Learning the basics of [tag]football[/tag] should begin at a very young age. Kids begin playing Pop Warner football and then they move their way up to the different levels of high school football. But before any player can actually play football at a high level, he needs to learn the basics on how to play. That’s why it’s important to have kids perform [tag]youth football drills[/tag] as early as possible.Youth Football Drills

Two [tag]basics[/tag] of the game of football that should be learned are how to catch a football and how to carry a football. There are many youth football drills that teach each of these skills.

Youth football [tag]drills[/tag] need to be kept as basic as possible. They shouldn’t be too physically demanding. They should be something that teaches the basics of how to play football correctly.

One of the important youth football drills involves learning how to [tag]catch[/tag] the football correctly. Players of all ages should learn to catch a football with their hands before the ball reaches their body. Too often players get lazy and start catching a ball by trapping it against their body. When this starts happening balls can start bouncing off the player’s pads. A ball that bounces off a player’s pads will fall incomplete or will be intercepted.

There is a very simple football [tag]drill[/tag] that players can perform before practice each day. All the drill requires is for players to play catch with each other. Each player should concentrate on how to catch the ball with their hands in front of them and then tuck it away as soon as possible.

Players should also perform youth football drills that teach them how to carry the football. It’s important to carry a ball correctly so that the ball won’t be fumbled or stripped by a defender.

During a youth football drill that teaches a player how to [tag]carry[/tag] the football, a player should carry the ball with one nose of the football firmly in the palm of his hand and the other nose of the football against his arm. The arm should be held out in front of the player on his chest or upper stomach and the arm should be bent in a 90 degree angle.

The player should also be taught to carry the ball in the arm that is closest to the sideline. Furthermore, when the player is about to get hit he should cover the top of the ball with his free arm.

A good youth football drill to teach carrying the ball is simply to have a player run down the field on one side and then run back carrying the ball in the opposite hand. A player can be taught to cover the ball and hold onto it by going through a chute with players on both sides who are trying to strip the ball.

Youth football drills should be fairly simple. They should teach the basics of football without requiring too much physical exertion or difficulty. Two examples of perfect youth football drills are learning how to catch the ball and learning how to carry the ball.
