Full drill
We start these [tag]football lineman drills[/tag] with an [tag]offensive lineman[/tag] and a [tag]defensive lineman[/tag] in a three point across from each other. There is a second line 5 yards back to represent the line-backers, in the up position.
On the whistle, the O lineman fires into the D lineman and does a drive block left or right for about 3 yards at which time that block is released and the O linemen then continues to the second level and blocks the linebacker the same direction until the whistle.
OUTCOME: This [tag]football drill[/tag] helps teach the O linemen to fire off into the initial block using proper form and footwork to drive the defender and once that person is defeated they look for a secondary blocking assignment.
It also helps the younger kids get away from making the initial block and then stand around to watch the play.
