How to run this drill
Football Coaching – Angle of Attack is built for youth, high-school, and volunteer coaches who need clear drill language — not a random cone circuit. Beginners can install the first progression; experienced staffs can layer competition.
- Read the purpose once, then walk the setup on air before live tempo.
- Demonstrate one clean rep so players see landmarks, pad level, and finish.
- Run short competitive periods — quality reps beat long lines.
- Close with one coaching cue players can repeat in the huddle next period.

Players don’t always get a straight-on attack at a player when they try to tackle. In [tag]football coaching[/tag], this drill is a good one for perfecting tackling technique.
What you need – Have a linebacker face a RB in this [tag]drill[/tag], about 10 yards apart. 10 yards to the right or left, you will also have cone.
How this drill works – The RB will already have the ball, so upon the snap he takes off toward the outside of the cone and the linebacker will need to pick an angle of pursuit to make the tackle.
Proper angle [tag]tackling[/tag] technique should be taught to players (helmet across, in front), and [tag]coaches[/tag] should go over how a player should approach a player when then are trying to tackle at angle (pick good angles).
Result – The [tag]football[/tag] players will have a greater understanding of angle pursuit.
