  1. Read the purpose once, then walk the setup on air before live tempo.
  2. Demonstrate one clean rep so players see landmarks, pad level, and finish.
  3. Run short competitive periods — quality reps beat long lines.

From Chris”¦

One of the [tag]football[/tag] [tag]drills[/tag] that I like to do is called Jump Ball.   It is a simple [tag]drill[/tag].

You’ll need your QB and a line of [tag]receivers[/tag] on the right or left.

The QB calls the cadence and snaps the ball.

The [tag]receiver[/tag] heads downfield parallel to the sideline looking over his inside shoulder..

The QB throws the ball high and outside on purpose so the receiver must leave his feet to get the ball.

The receiver makes the [tag]catch[/tag] but must be aware of where his feet come down.

The object of the drill is to get the receiver to be aware of where he is in relation to the sideline and to come down with the ball [tag]inbounds[/tag].

This is also a good drill for the QB. It gives him the practice of putting the ball where the receiver can get it, and the defender can’t..

I usually start this drill at half speed until the players get it, and then we turn up the speed. You can also add in a [tag]defender[/tag] once everyone is on the same page.

Coaching tips

  • Keep one cue per rep so kids hear the same language every time.
  • Film the first live set; pause on footwork and finish, not just the ball.
  • Pair this drill with a matching play install so practice transfers to game day.
