How to run this drill

Conditioning for Youth Football is built for youth, high-school, and volunteer coaches who need clear drill language — not a random cone circuit. Beginners can install the first progression; experienced staffs can layer competition.

  1. Read the purpose once, then walk the setup on air before live tempo.
  2. Demonstrate one clean rep so players see landmarks, pad level, and finish.
  3. Run short competitive periods — quality reps beat long lines.
  4. Close with one coaching cue players can repeat in the huddle next period.

From David
To keep all [tag]football[/tag] players active: I run two stations with my two QB’s.

I have a receiver, defender, and center.
The QB makes a play with the wide receiver. After the play, they all rotate except for the QB.   The wide receiver moves to Defender, Defender moves to
Center, Center moves to wide receiver.

If you have more than three players (other than the QB) in the group, you
can include a rusher (have the player count to two) or you can have them wait in line at the WR spot.   Kids love it. QB practices throwing to each player. Each player runs routes and defends.

From Steve
My favorite [tag]football drill[/tag] is a race.
You have 2 teams and start with a 10 yard sprint.
Next an in and out ladder drill.
Then tackling the dummy and finish with a sprint for 10 yards.

Coaching tips

  • Keep one cue per rep so kids hear the same language every time.
  • Film the first live set; pause on footwork and finish, not just the ball.
  • Pair this drill with a matching play install so practice transfers to game day.
