How to run this drill
Offensive Drill for Football – Run Tech is built for youth, high-school, and volunteer coaches who need clear drill language — not a random cone circuit. Beginners can install the first progression; experienced staffs can layer competition.
- Read the purpose once, then walk the setup on air before live tempo.
- Demonstrate one clean rep so players see landmarks, pad level, and finish.
- Run short competitive periods — quality reps beat long lines.
- Close with one coaching cue players can repeat in the huddle next period.
Full drill
We started to incorporate this [tag]offensive drill for football[/tag] into our practice plan 4 years ago, and it has helped us to become more competitive at a higher level. The [tag]football drill[/tag] we use daily is called “run tech”.
We spend 20-30 minutes each day focusing on the run (from tackle to tackle), and move the [tag]football[/tag] with 3 downs to make a first. All players are included except the DBs and WRs, who are working on a separate drill with another [tag]football coach[/tag].
Even though this is primarily an [tag]offensive football drill[/tag], the defense is allowed to shuffle the players into different alignments.
This is a full contact drill, however, with a quick whistle. Of course, time can be taken by either the defense or offense, to go over technique or blocking assignments.
