From Steven”¦
Here’s a [tag]football drill[/tag] we use often, it’s very effective.   We have all of our [tag]football[/tag] players line up in one line horizontally. Then the [tag]football coach[/tag] will say “Down”. The players bend their knees and then the coach says “SET”, the players should now be in the three point stance.

They all have to be watching the coach with the football and when the ball moves is when they move. If they move before the ball is moved we move them back 10 yards and do it again until they can get to the end. The end can be 50 yards or whatever you decide but the object is to teach them to only go on the ball and not on the words like HUT!

After a couple of times doing it then try having a coach yell out HUT and don’t move the ball and see how many kids jump offsides.

From Randy”¦
Each night at the end of practice we have “pay me” time. During the practice when things go wrong over and over I may say that the team owes me one. At the end of practice it’s time to pay up.

Everyone lines up on the goal line and is ready for sprints. I ALWAYS have the count on 2 and if they jump, they run it but it does not count.   Sprints are 20 yards. By mid season your team will rarely ever jump off side on a count. It really works!
