How to run this drill

Football Tackling Drills – Get Low is built for youth, high-school, and volunteer coaches who need clear drill language — not a random cone circuit. Beginners can install the first progression; experienced staffs can layer competition.

  2. Demonstrate one clean rep so players see landmarks, pad level, and finish.
  3. Run short competitive periods — quality reps beat long lines.
  4. Close with one coaching cue players can repeat in the huddle next period.

Full drill

These [tag]football tackling drills[/tag] are great for [tag]youth football[/tag] as well as high school. My goal is to teach a lot of basic fundamentals.

This [tag]football drill[/tag] is to help teach players to get low while tackling. My players seem to think that shoulder pads are a great thing to tackle. I line my guys up on the goal line and put a tackling dummy at the 40. On go the players have to run towards the dummy grabbing grass every 10 yards (10, 20, 30, then get low as they tackle the dummy at the 40).

It sounds mundane but this [tag]football[/tag] drill seems to be working.   High school kids have a hard time breaking old habits so this would be great introduced at the youth level.

Hey… I just posted a cool offensive football plays video  I think you’ll like. Go watch it now and let me know what you think…
