Full drill
As a coach for a youth [tag]flag football[/tag] team, I needed to create [tag]flag football drills[/tag] that gave all of my players the chance to play all positions. With just 14 players we had trouble with our guys not getting a good feel of a real game experience in [tag]football practice[/tag].
Our offensive line did not have anyone to block and when we practiced defense no one was blocking us. This is what worked for us. We split our plays into 3rds. If the [tag]football play[/tag] involved something (run or pass) to the right side we took our left side line and receivers and had them play defense. Same for left side. If it was a middle play we took all outside players and put them in the center on defense. Basically same thing for Defense.
The key is, you have to make sure everyone understands the fundamentals of the play first before splitting them up, otherwise the younger players get confused.
We didn’t start this until our third week of [tag]football[/tag] practice. It really improved our down field blocking and helped our young players understand they have to continue to play until they hear the whistle.
